At the tender age of just seven years, little Jeremy Hohman walked into the Junior Showmanship ring. He was facing his toughest and first competition...his brother, Bill and his sister Heather, both had been winning ALOT in this ring and the breed ring, but he was determined. As he lifted the 25 pound Shiba onto the table, he stumbled, and the dog feel off the table...little Jeremy was only about 40 pounds himself and this was a difficult task just to get the dog into position on the table. When the judge offered to help, he just said...no thank you ma'm...I CAN DO IT!!! And that day he did do it in style...the dog was positioned perfectly like only an aspiring "pro" could do...he baited, he gaited and the Shiba boy and the Shiba Inu WON!!!! Yes they beat the tough competiton to include his brother and sister and he went BEST JUNIOR HANDLER that day!!! And since then, now known as Shibaguy, Jeremy has never looked back...his eyes are always on the future. Jeremy is known for his intuition and gentle hands...knowing just what each dog needs and how to make that dog look its best. He is now a professional handler known in the non-sporting ring, the herding ring and the working ring. He has finished innumerable dogs, put breeds on dogs from the classes and owner breeder handled a shiba in 1999 to the #9 slot Breed in the nation. Currently he is showing the #1 All Breed Shiba Inu - CH. Frerose Chattanooga Choo Choo, who is also the #2 Breed Dog (Dog World May 2002). Jeremy is available to all ringside and back at our rig, trying to give the novice encouragement, talking with judges and learning what they are looking for , and listening to other handlers and being available to back them up when ever he can. Jeremy has experience in all the groups and is currently pointing his career to the stars!!!
Steven Michael Hohman is a third generation handler for Asa Hanna Kennels. Steven spent his summer in 2002 at Asa Hanna learning from the ground up literally, pooper scooping at first, watering the dogs, and finally managing the entire kennel at the end of the summer all on his own....he follows in the tradition of his Uncle Jeremy as a natural with dogs, as proven by his unexpected but well deserved win with little Beaux girl from Theresa McNulty, a client of Jeremy's. Jeremy had too many dogs to show, including some top winning specials on the tough Greenville circuit the end of July and Steven stepped up to the plate and hit a home run with Beaux for a four point major! We are looking forward to next summer when he will return to Asa Hanna and help again...We loved having you here Steven and are really proud of your accomplishments!
